I tried to use this material for some optical lab instrument fixtures around 10 years ago when I was a postdoc but the tolerances were quite poor and you needed to machine to final dimensions so it didn't end up making sense compared to just machining from aluminum or resin printing.

    The situation may be different now - in that it is possible to make accurate metal prototypes, DIY if a person has the required expertise. ie I sometimes causally read a English magazine named "Model Engineer" that means projects with tight tolerances. I observe there are also small scale "Milling Machines " advertised
